Annual Fund Drive for NILMDTS

NILMDTS ANNUAL FUNDRAISER

With the Month of October being recognized as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, The Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep Foundation holds its Annual Fund Drive for six weeks starting in mid-September and ending in October.
President Ronald Reagan enacted Proclamation 5890 in October of 1988 to recognize that each year, approximately a million pregnancies in the United States alone end in miscarriage, stillbirth, or the death of a newborn child. Reagan stated, "A national observance offers us the opportunity to increase our understanding of the great tragedy involved in the deaths of unborn or newborn babies. It also enables us to consider how, as individuals and communities, we can meet the needs of bereaved parents and family members… " To read the full Proclamation signed by Reagan, CLICK HERE.

If you are in a place to make even a small contribution to NILMDTS, please know that doing so will continue to allow the organization to provide improved resources, training, communication, and other tools necessary in support of our amazing contingent of professional photographers who provide the gift of free remembrance portraiture to families in need.

Our next project we are working on is an online, interactive webinar version of our Formal NILMDTS Training taught by Co-Founder Sandy Puc' allowing anyone in any country with access to a computer to complete the course online. Donations help make programs like this a reality!

I want to give back…

Writing by Josh Barry on Thursday, 4 of September , 2008 at 7:00 pm

…to the men and women in our armed forces. They risk their lives every day. They leave their families behind to do what is necessary to keep our enemies back on their heels.

I used to travel a lot and found myself in airports frequently for about a year straight. I would always see men and women coming home from overseas dressed in their uniform. I always felt like people in their airport should be going up to them and thanking them for their efforts, their risks and their sacrifices. I wanted to walk up to each and every one of them and shake their hand. I felt they deserved recognition rather than demoralizing banter from non supportive individuals who aren't truly appreciative of their efforts.

I thought about what I COULD do to show appreciation. Send stuff in care packages? Adopt a soldier? All good ideas. However, I remember being away from home and really taking comfort in the photos I had to help remind me of home. I think these men and women deserve the same thing. Something professional and perfect. Something better than the chain studios who only treat you like cattle with checkbook.

If you are a service member and would like a photo session with your family please keep reading. Whether you are single and would like a photo session with your parents or you have a family of your own and want the session to be with your children and your husband or wife. As long as one of you in the immediate family (son, daughter, father, mother, husband, or wife) is an ACTIVE service member this offer applies to you.

You have earned a free in-studio or on-location ($200 value) family photo session. Also included with your free session is a free no strings attached $100 reprint credit for you to use towards any reprints.

Call 717-541-0681 to book your session. I am not sure I can create family portraits for every family that calls due to filling up on my bookings. I may decide to end it once I get too many requests that I cannot handle. So please book sooner than later to ensure you have something special and unique to take back overseas with you on your next deployment.

I am based out of Harrisburg, Pa and will go on location to most of my surrounding areas. If you are reading this and you are in Maryland (which is an area I cover) I welcome you to come up to my studio for your family session. Call 888-517-6374 if you are out of state.

*****Offer limited to active personnel only. Must have valid military ID present on day of session. Session only good for service members and their immediate family. Soldier must be present and in the photos. Session will be done in a family style only, sorry no substitutions. Cannot be combined with any other offer. No hidden fees or charges. This is the real deal.*****

P.S. I would also like it if you would take a photo or two with me in it =)

This is Jaco. He is a friend of mine from Peoria South Africa. He is an amazing photographer and I look to him for inspiration all the time. Although weddings aren't the largest piece of my photography I do photograph weddings and watching his work progress keeps me inspired to better my own skills EVERYDAY. Check out his website: Peoria South Africa Wedding Photographer

He recently did a Trash the Dress session down there and took some video of this and put it up on You Tube.

Enjoy

PENNY IS HOME!!!!!!!! Stolen Dog No Longer!!!!!!!!

Writing by Josh Barry on Sunday, 15 of June , 2008 at 5:41 pm

After 12 days of running in the woods she was finally spotted and tracked down.

The same people that spotted her about 10 days ago are the same ones that caught her. I had put Penny's kennel in their back yard after they saw her the first time hoping she would be smart enough to stay around houses and water since there is a big pond and plenty of fresh water running in streams around that neighborhood. My theory proved right thankfully.

There is a side story to this though which is equally impressive. The nice people who saw Penny the first time, Cindy Lashinsky and Ben Fiereer saw her again yesterday. Ben said he spotted her way up on the hill moving around and decided (with some help from Cindy) to go running after her up the hill and through the woods.

Ben gave chase and Penny ran from him but eventually after realizing that Ben wasn't a threat AND seeing their yellow lab nearby decided to turn aruond and headed right for their dog.

They were so nice guys. Really. I came to see penny and they had already removed several ticks from Penny and gave me the rundown of all the things I'll need to do to get her healthy again and up to speed health-wise. She handed me shampoo, phone numbers for vets, a tick removing kit (which I am still using ) and a new collar for Penny. I think Cindy said she is an animal trainer so her knowledge on veterinary medicine seemed to be really extensive.

It was meant to be. They took such good care of her in such a short amount of time. I'm glad they found her.

Here is Penny with her welcome home present after her much needed bath.

Ten Differences Between Those Who Dream And Those Who Act

Writing by Josh Barry on Friday, 18 of January , 2008 at 9:48 pm

I found this online today and wanted to post this because I think it speaks to the very heart of business in America. Where do YOU fit?

I wanted to share with you the 10 differences between how wanna-be’s and entrepreneurs think…

  • Wanna-be’s obsess about ideas. Entrepreneurs obsess about implementation. Don’t get stuck in Analysis Paralysis. Look at what the top income producers are doing and copy them. No need to re-invent the wheel.
  • Wanna-be’s want more web traffic. Entrepreneurs focus on sales conversion. Use a marketing system that closes the sales FOR you! You do not want to be a sales person. You also want a system that will do this for your new members as well, giving you the ability to earn ridiculous amounts of residual income.
  • Wanna-be’s focus on positive thinking. Entrepreneurs plan for multiple contingencies. Positive thinking is important but you are not a Jedi, yet. You cannot move things with your mind or conjure money out of thin air. Positive thinking will only get you so far. You must have Positive thinking combined with specific, targeted action.
  • Wanna-be’s want to get on TV and get “famous.” Entrepreneurs build their businesses and their list. Let the ego go. Your only goal is to make as much money as possible as quickly as possible. This will inspire others to do the same.
  • Wanna-be’s seek a perfect plan and wait for the perfect time. Entrepreneurs execute and take action when they see an opportunity. Entrepreneurs accept educated risk and are able to make big decisions quickly once they have all the information. Make a decision and take some risk. No successful entrepreneur accomplished any significant by playing it safe!
  • Wanna-be’s wait for their lucky break. Entrepreneurs take responsibility and create their OWN circumstances.
  • Wanna-be’s fear looking stupid in front of their friends. Entrepreneurs willingly risk making fools of themselves, knowing that long-term success is a good trade for short-term loss of image. Don’t listen to your friends and family-They are BROKE. They have zero credibility as far as financial decisions are concerned. Surround yourself with people who have results and do what they do. This is the only way to fast track your wealth.
  • Wanna-be’s shield their precious ideas from harsh reality, postponing the verdict of success or failure until ’someday.’ Entrepreneurs expose their ideas to cold reality as soon as reasonably possible. Don’t be afraid to look stupid. That is just ego screwing with you. One way to know you are on the right track is when you lose anything in common with all of your brokes friends and family. They don’t count, unless you want their results! PERIOD!
  • Wanna-be’s put off practicing basketball until they’ve got Air Jordan’s. Entrepreneurs practice barefoot behind the garage. Stop waiting for the perfect time, the perfect opportunity, the perfect situation. Take decisive action now and stop procrastinating.
  • Wanna-be’s believe what they’re told. Entrepreneurs do original research and make their own decisions. Do your due diligence and follow you gut. It will rarely lead you astray.

You can have it all if you really believe you can. Figure out who you are, what you want, and stop settling for less!
