OK I know I have been WAAAAAAAY behind on updating my blog but I have got so much going on between not missing promised deadlines and looking for a new studio space to upgrade into I have forgotten about all of you and I am so sorry. Things are looking really great on my end but once things settles down I will post more of my artistic beautiful portraits I have created as of recently. You won’t be disappointed. In the meantime here is a sideshow I put together from Jake Goldberg’s Bar Mitzvah from down in Olney, Maryland.

Ok……..
thinking………..
Hmmmmm………
What do I do today?!?!?!
What will be different about HIS portraits that no one else has????
I’ve photographed all of their friends in the same temple.
They are using me for my creative talents.
I hope you think of something.
So those are my thoughts as I am arriving at B’nai Shalom of Olney today to photograph Jake’s Bar Mitzvah Portraits before his ceremony and party Saturday night. As previously mentioned I am sure I would feel uneasy if I didn’t walk away with SOMETHING different and unique compared to the rest of their friends. Heaven knows they’re watchin’!
SO I learned something today. Well I was reminded of something today that I almost forgot. Here it is: “get to know your clients personally.” I have Charlie, Jake’s father, to thank for reminding me of that. He mentioned that Jake plays piano and asked if I could take a portrait of him playing the one in the Temple. Naturally I was happy to do it and grateful he mentioned something about Jake that was personal. I needed that ‘touch’ for today’s portraits. So I have to remember from now on to find out as much as possible about each of my clients. The more I know the more I am able to customize their portraits that speak more about them instead of just what they are doing.
Thank you Weiss family see you tomorrow night!
Photography will always be something I enjoy whether or not I am doing it for a living or not. (Hopefully for a living!) So while I am here I like to try new things even if it is taking an idea I have already used and making it 10% different.
I met Charlotte and her family down at B’nai Shalom of Olney this evening. We played with light a little bit and also did (what I call) “the staples” as well. However it’s the creative stuff that makes me smile. I don’t think I could keep photographing professionally if I was turning out the same ole mundane stuff everyone else was doing. What sets me apart then? (other than my eccentric personality and charisma!!!).
Once again the whole family was nice and very easy to work with. I must be the luckiest photographer in the world because I have yet to have a family that is hard to work with. Thank you Lavigna family and I look forward to seeing you Saturday night after the Bat Mitzvah
Here is an album that I recently got done designing. This belongs to the Lipka Family based out of Olney Maryland.
I posted a few photographs way back after I photographed the BImah Portraits and the reception. Here is their finished product. I tried some different things I have never tried before and I really like the way it turned out. Very challenging, but in the end it was well worth the extra time it took to create this for the Lipka’s.
So in case anyone was wondering yes I cover all the way down into Olney as well so don’t hesitate to call if you are down in Olney and looking for a photographer for your son or daughter’s Bar or Bat Mitzvah. 888-517-6374
